From 9 to 11 October 2026, Moritzburg was the venue for the biennial Federal Show for Haflingers and Edelbluthaflingers. A total of 13 National Champion and National Reserve Champion titles were up for grabs that weekend across various age groups and sporting competitions. In addition, the participating mares had the opportunity to secure the title of National Premium Mare or National Premium Candidate. It was a spectacular weekend for the mares from the Bavarian breeding programme: they secured ten of the 13 possible titles. A sensational result. In the Haflinger adult mares category, the Premium mare Larissa by Starkwind/Stolzalm 359/T/Amethist v.d. Heksenketel, bred and presented by Walter Weber, Zachenberg, took the honours. The title of National Reserve Champion in this category was secured by Nikita, a daughter of Bugatti/Nikora/Stainz, bred and presented by Karl Stadler, Ziemetshausen. The National Champion among the Haflinger young mares also came from the breeding stable of Walter Weber, Zachenberg – Lorena by Sterlington/Stolzalm 359/T/Amethist v.d. Heksenketel. The winning Haflinger family also hailed from Bavaria, specifically from the farm of Hugo Kirsch, Königstein. Navena HK by Stainz/Barolo/Amadeus, together with her daughters Namira HK by Winterball/Stainz/Barolo and Narika HK by Winterball/Stainz/Barolo, formed the winning family trio. In the Haflinger young mares category, both national championship titles also went to Bavaria. The State Premium candidate Flora by Weingold S/Nobless/Alibaba, bred and presented by Richard Häringer of Huglfing, trotted to victory here. Behind her came Rina, a daughter of Status Quo/Barricello/Steintaenzer, from the farm of Sandra and Florian Albrecht-Andrä in Huglfing. Nantana M by Nantano/Nobless/Amor is the new National Reserve Champion among the Edelbluthaflinger adult mares. She was bred by Gertrud and Franz Mayer of Siegsdorf and was presented this weekend by Birgit and Rober Müller of Michelstadt. The winning family of the Edelbluthaflingers also originated from the Bavarian breeding programme. It consisted of the mare Nantana M by Nantano/Nobless/Amor, bred by Gertrud and Franz Mayer of Siegsdorf and presented by Birgit and Rober Müller, Michelstadt; the mare Narina by Starino I/Nobless/Amor, bred and exhibited by Gertrud and Franz Mayer, Siegsdorf; and the mare Noela by Barios/Wyno/Nobless, bred and exhibited by Magdalena Mayer, Siegsdorf. In addition to the show, three sporting competitions were also held in dressage, show jumping and driving. The Edelbluthaflinger mare Freche Bine, born in 2017 and bred in Bavaria, won two national titles here. Guided by Kathrin Karosser, the daughter of Armani Ass/Almbube/Nordano secured the title of ‘Driving National Champion Mare’ and, under saddle, the title of ‘Dressage National Champion Mare’. Here, too, she was presented to perfection by Kathrin Karosser. This highly talented Edelbluthhaflinger mare was bred by Gottfried Felsl of Fischbachau, and the exhibitor was Claudia Koch of Tussenhausen. The Bavarian Horse Breeders’ Association (Landesverband Bayerischer Pferdezüchter e.V.) is very proud of these outstanding breeding achievements on a national scale and congratulates all its breeders and exhibitors.
