The WHBSF brings together people, organisations and institutions from all over the world. By means of international cooperation, it fosters professional exchange, supports the harmonisation of breeding and judging standards and accompanies the organisation of breeding and sporting events.

The WHBSF unites full and associate member organisations from Europe and overseas under one roof. This facilitates the coordination of expertise, breeding practices and standards. Decisions regarding the breeding standards and any amendments to them are made by the Commission of Experts for the Haflinger breed.

The WHBSF supports its member organisations by providing individual consultancy services, joint training courses for judges, assistance with the organisation of breeding and sporting events and promoting the visibility of these events across borders through the Federation's platforms.
